Nobles Repower Project – JMS Energy

Project Overview:

For the Nobles Repower project, JMS Energy collaborated closely with Mortenson, a prominent leader in renewable energy construction. This extensive project involved significant upgrades and refurbishments to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the wind turbines at the Nobles site.

Scope of Work:

1. De-Termination of Components:
– JMS Energy expertly de-termed the HUB, Gearbox, Generator, and Top box. This critical step ensured that all components were safely disconnected and prepared for the upcoming upgrades and installations.

2. Top Box Upgrades:
– Upgrades were performed on the Top box, a key component responsible for housing essential electrical and control systems. These upgrades were designed to improve the overall performance and reliability of the wind turbine’s electrical systems.

3. FAA Lights Installation:
– JMS Energy installed new FAA-compliant lights on the nacelles, ensuring that the wind turbines met all necessary aviation safety standards. These lights are crucial for visibility and compliance with federal regulations.

4. Refurbishment and Reinstallation:
– Mortenson refurbished the Gearbox and Generator, bringing them up to the latest operational standards. JMS Energy assisted in the reinstallation of these refurbished components, along with the upgraded Top box. This collaborative effort ensured that the turbines operated with enhanced efficiency and reduced downtime.

5. Re-Termination and System Integration:
– Following the upgrades and refurbishments, JMS Energy meticulously re-terminated the HUB, Gearbox, Generator, and Top box. This process involved reconnecting all components, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.

6. ADLS System Installation:
– JMS Energy installed an Aircraft Detection Lighting System (ADLS), a state-of-the-art technology designed to minimize the visual impact of wind turbines on surrounding areas. The ADLS system activates the FAA lights only when an aircraft is detected, reducing light pollution and maintaining compliance with aviation regulations.

Project Outcome:

The Nobles Repower project successfully enhanced the operational efficiency and compliance of the wind turbines. Through close collaboration with Mortenson and the application of advanced technologies, JMS Energy ensured that the Nobles wind farm operates at peak performance, contributing to sustainable energy production and environmental stewardship.
